Kostas Sarakinos

Founder and CSO at MIMSI Materials

Kostas Sarakinos has extensive work experience in the field of research and academia. Kostas is currently working as a Researcher at KTH Royal Institute of Technology starting from March 2022. Prior to that, they held the position of Associate Professor at the University of Helsinki from December 2021.

In 2013, Kostas founded MIMSI Materials AB and served as the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) until the present. Kostas was also a Member of the Board of Directors from December 2013 to March 2018.

Before joining the University of Helsinki, Kostas worked at Linköping University starting from August 2011. Kostas held several positions there, including Associate Professor & Division Head from November 2017 to October 2021, Senior Lecturer & Division Head from August 2015 to November 2017, LiU Research Fellow & Division Head from October 2014 to August 2015, and LiU Research Fellow from August 2011 to October 2014. Kostas also worked as a Post-doctoral researcher at Linköping University from March 2010 to August 2011.

Kostas began their career at RWTH Aachen University in 2004. Kostas worked as a Post-doctoral researcher from January 2008 to March 2010 and was a Ph.D. candidate at the Institute of Physics IA, RWTH Aachen University from September 2004 to December 2007.

Kostas Sarakinos has a strong educational background. Kostas began their studies at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) in 1997, where they earned a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering in 2002. Kostas then pursued further education at AUTH, completing an M.Sc. in Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies from 2002 to 2004.

In 2004, Sarakinos continued their academic journey at RWTH Aachen University, where they obtained a Ph.D. in Physics in 2007. Afterward, they enrolled at Linköping University, where they achieved the degree of Docent in Materials Science between 2010 and 2012.
