Damian Tran has a diverse range of work experience in various roles and industries. Damian started their career as a Tutor at McMaster Science Society in 2016, where they provided tutoring services in physics, chemistry, and biology for undergraduate courses.

In 2017, Damian took on multiple roles simultaneously. Damian became a Research Project Lead at iGEM McMaster, a student-led research team competing in the iGEM competition. Damian also joined Let's Talk Science | Parlons sciences as a Coordinator for the Hamilton StemCellTalks chapter, where they were responsible for budgeting and grant management. Additionally, Damian worked as a Graduate Student Researcher at the McMaster Stem Cell and Cancer Research Institute, where they focused on using deep sequencing and deep learning natural language processing for cancer drug discovery. Damian'swork there resulted in the creation of an Artificially-intelligent Desktop Assistant (AiDA) chatbot.

From 2017 to 2020, Damian pursued self-employment as a Software Developer, specializing in software architecture and full-stack web and mobile development. Damian utilized various frameworks and languages, including ReactJS, React Native, SASS, Laravel, Firebase, MS SQL Server, and wrote original algorithms in JS, C++, Python, and PHP. Damian also designed APIs, databases, client web and mobile applications, and developed e-commerce solutions. Damian had expertise in deep learning ML models using PyTorch.

Most recently, Damian served as the Chief Technology Officer at MinervaAI, starting in 2018. MinervaAI is an automated platform for financial regulatory compliance that uses advanced screening algorithms and AI to compile search reports for anti-money laundering and anti-terror funding investigation teams. The reports provide comprehensive overviews on individuals/entities of interest, including detailed analyses of negative news, client networks, and watchlist screening.

Throughout their career, Damian has demonstrated a strong background in software development, deep learning, cancer research, event coordination, and tutoring.

Damian Tran began their education in 2009 at Meadowvale Secondary School, where they obtained their High School Diploma in 2013. Afterward, they enrolled at McMaster University in 2013 and completed their Honours Bachelor of Science (Hon. BSc) degree in Biochemistry in 2017. Damian further pursued their education at McMaster University, and from 2017 to 2019, they earned a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Biochemistry. Additionally, in 2016, Damian participated in the MacAbroad Exchange Program at the University of Adelaide, although the field of study for this program is unknown.
