Alastair Child

Alastair Child is a seasoned professional in service design and customer experience, currently serving as the Manager of Service Design and Customer Experience at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment since November 2023. Prior to this role, Alastair held various managerial positions at the Ministry of Justice - New Zealand, focusing on co-design and innovative courthouse initiatives from July 2020 to November 2023. Alastair's experience includes serving as Director of SIDA NZ and Design Lead for the Service Innovation Lab at the Department of Internal Affairs (NZ). Additionally, Alastair has contributed to Auckland Council in several capacities, including Director of the Auckland Co-design Lab. Alastair began a career in public service with Liverpool City Council and Knowsley MBC, holding roles related to housing strategy and project support. Alastair holds an MA in Politics and the Mass Media from the University of Liverpool and a BA in Economics & Politics from Newcastle University.
