Tegan Bristow has a diverse work experience in the fields of culture, art, and technology. Tegan started their career in 2004 as an "Assistant Everything" at Trinity Session, where they worked until 2006. In 2007, they joined the University of the Witwatersrand as a Researcher and Senior Lecturer in Culture, Art & Technology in Africa. Tegan later assumed the role of Lecturer and Postgraduate Program Lead for Interactive Digital Arts at the university, where they taught interactive media and media art theory and coordinated the Interactive Media Postgraduate Programme. In 2016, Tegan became the Director of the Fak'ugesi African Digital Innovation Festival, a project supporting African digital creative industries. Tegan held this position until August 2021. In 2018, they became the Editor in Chief of Ellipses Journal of Creative Research. Currently, they are working as the Director of Education for Diriyah Art Futures at the Ministry of Culture, starting from April 2023.

Tegan Bristow earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Planetary Collegium from the University of Plymouth between 2012 and 2017. Prior to that, they completed their Master of Arts (MA) in Digital Interactive Art at the University of the Witwatersrand from 2005 to 2006. Tegan began their educational journey with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Fine Arts, Painting, and African History from Rhodes University, which they attained from 1997 to 2000.
