Liis Tõnismaa has a diverse work experience, with a focus on government agencies and legal roles. Liis began their career as a Legal Assistant at Advokaadibüroo Nõmmik in 2012. In 2013, they worked as a Legal Intern at Swedbank. Liis then moved on to internships at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications in 2014 and the Ministry of Social Affairs in the same year. At the Ministry of Social Affairs, they eventually became an Advisor and later the Head of Employment Relations. Currently, they are the Head of Labour Relations at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications.
Liis Tõnismaa began their education at Pärnu Co-educational Gymnasium, where they completed their high school education from 2007 to 2010. Liis went on to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Law at the University of Tartu from 2010 to 2013. Following that, they continued their education at the same university and obtained a Master's degree in Law from 2013 to 2015. Building on their legal background, they then enrolled at the University of Tartu Pärnu College and pursued a Professional Higher Education degree in Entrepreneurship and Project Management from 2018 to 2024.
