Freek Keppels

Freek Keppels is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in financial economic affairs and policy communication within various governmental institutions. Currently serving as Director of Financial Economic Affairs at the Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken since August 2020, Freek previously held the position of Director of Policy and Communication at ACM-Autoriteit Consument & Markt from August 2015 to August 2020. Freek's career at the Ministerie van Financiën spanned nearly a decade, where roles included Head of Financial Markets Conduct Policy and Capital Markets, as well as Deputy Head of International Economy and International Financial Institutions. Freek's foundational experience includes positions at the Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken, focusing on budget affairs and arms control, and tenure as Second Secretary at the Netherlands Embassy in Hanoi. Freek holds dual Master's degrees in Econometrics and Business Administration from the University of Groningen, complemented by study at Universitas Sumatera Utara and the University of Indonesia.
