Paul Van den IJssel is an experienced diplomat currently serving as the Ambassador for International Organisations at the Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken since February 2022. Previously, Paul held the position of Permanent Representative to the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) from July 2017 to August 2021. Paul also served as Ambassador to Jordan and represented the Netherlands at the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva as well as multiple multilateral disarmament negotiations from July 2009 to June 2017. Earlier roles include Director of the cabinet of the Secretary General at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Head of department at DVB/WW from 2001 to 2005, as well as serving as Embassy Secretary from 1992 to 1995. Paul Van den IJssel holds a degree from the University of Amsterdam, completed between 1977 and 1983.
