Thomas Claassen

Thomas Claassen is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in diplomacy and policy advising. Currently serving as First Secretary at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Beijing since March 2023, Claassen previously held the position of Senior Policy Advisor at the Ministerie van BZK from September 2012 to February 2023. Claassen's background includes diverse roles such as a trainee at the Gemeente Amsterdam, and several positions at the Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken, covering various European policy areas. Additionally, Claassen contributed as a writer for Oost-online, focusing on individual profiles and literary interests. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree in European Studies from the University of Amsterdam and a Bachelor's degree in History from the University of Groningen, complemented by a brief study at Uppsala University.
