Daniel Schaer

Daniel Schaer is an experienced diplomat currently serving as the Ambassador to the Republic of South Africa and the Republic of Kenya, as well as the Ambassador at Large for Africa with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia since June 2022. Previously, Schaer held the role of Commissioner General for the EXPO 2020 Estonian Pavilion from May 2019 to June 2022 and served as Ambassador at Large for Africa between September 2015 and June 2019, where significant involvement in Estonia's UN Security Council campaign occurred. Other notable positions include Head of Political Section at the European Union Delegation to Rwanda and a range of roles at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, including serving as a Special Representative and Chargé d'Affaires. Daniel Schaer holds a Master's degree in European Studies from the College of Europe and a Bachelor's degree in International Relations from the University of British Columbia.
