Martyna Popis

Scientist II at MiNK Therapeutics

Martyna Popis has a diverse work experience in scientific research and education. From 2019, they have been working at MiNK Therapeutics, initially as a Scientist I and then as a Scientist II starting in March 2022. At MiNK Therapeutics, their specific roles and responsibilities are not provided.

Prior to their current position, Martyna worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Cambridge from October 2015 to April 2019. In this role, they focused on the regulation of RNA methylation and protein synthesis in tissue regeneration. Martyna was part of The Wellcome - MRC Cambridge Stem Cell Institute, Frye research group.

From 2013 to 2017, Martyna worked at Reach Cambridge as a Lecturer and Demonstrator. Martyna prepared and delivered interactive lectures on stem cell research, ethics in science, and drug design. Additionally, they designed and organized hands-on laboratory practicals.

In 2010, Martyna started their research career as a Research Assistant at the MRC Centre for Stem Cell Research, Blackburn research group at the University of Edinburgh. Martyna investigated the development of T cells in the embryonic thymus and the self-renewal and differentiation potential of thymic epithelial progenitor cells.

Martyna also had a summer research experience in 2010 as a Summer Research Student at the Vienna BioCenter Scientific Training. Martyna worked in the Busslinger research group at The Research Institute of Molecular Pathology, where they used retroviral vectors to generate modified B cell progenitor cells for the study of B cell lineage specification.

Martyna Popis has a strong educational background in the field of biology and genetics. Martyna began their academic journey by obtaining a Bachelor of Science (BSc) (Hons) degree in Genetics from The University of Edinburgh from 2006 to 2010. During this time, Martyna also participated in an international exchange program at the University of Washington, focusing on Molecular Biology and Genetics from 2008 to 2009.

Martyna then pursued further education at the University of Cambridge, where they completed a Master of Research (MRes) degree in Stem Cell Biology from 2011 to 2012. Martyna further expanded their knowledge and expertise in Stem Cell Research by obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from the same university between 2012 and 2015.

In addition to their academic accomplishments, Martyna has also obtained certifications in Home Office Personal Licensee Training, Modules 1-4 in November 2010.
