Currently serving as the Deputy Communications Director at the Minnesota Department of Health since 2016, Awsumb oversees the agency's communications strategy, tactics, and staff. Prior roles include Health Communication & Media Consultant, Health Communications Manager at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and various positions at the University of Minnesota and WellShare International. Awsumb holds a Master of Public Health in Community Health Education and a Master of Arts in Health Journalism & Communication, complemented by a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Ithaca College.
