Kimmy Tanaka has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Kimmy began their career in 2007 as a Server and Assistant Service Manager at Brasa Premium Rotisserie Restaurant, where they provided personalized experiences for large numbers of guests and managed a team of employees. In 2011, they gained research experience as a Research Intern at the Science and Technology in Archaeology Research Center. Continuing their interest in historic preservation, they worked as a Preservation Support Services Intern at the Preservation Alliance of Minnesota in 2012. Subsequently, they served as the Communications and Technology Coordinator at Historic Saint Paul from 2013 to 2014. In 2017, they took on the role of Program Supervisor at Historic Fort Snelling at Bdote, and later became a Historic Site Interpreter at Mill City Museum. During this time, they also worked as a Web Development and Research Fellow at the Capitol Area Architectural and Planning Board. Most recently, they have been serving as the Community Engagement Manager at the Minnesota Historical Society since 2022.
Kimmy Tanaka completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Architecture from the University of Minnesota between 2002 and 2006. Kimmy further pursued their education at the same university, earning a Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) degree with an unspecified field of study from 2007 to 2010.
