Bart Johnson has a diverse work experience spanning over 20 years. Bart began their career in 2000 as an Engineer at Whirlpool Corporation, followed by a role as an Engineer at John Deere from 2001 to 2004. Bart then transitioned to Itasca Community College, where they held various roles including Engineering Instructor and Program Coordinator from 2004 to 2013, Dean of Academic Affairs from 2013 to 2015, and finally Provost from 2015 to 2022. During their time at Itasca Community College, they also pursued a PHD at Aalborg University as a PHD Student from 2013 to 2016. Most recently, Bart Johnson joined Minnesota North College as the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs in November 2020.

Bart Johnson holds a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD degree in Engineering Education from Aalborg University, which they acquired from 2014 to 2016. Bart also obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan between 2000 and 2001. Prior to that, Bart completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering at North Dakota State University from 1999 to 2000. Additionally, they pursued Pre-Engineering studies at Minnesota State University Moorhead from 1995 to 1998.
