Drew Spaniel

Drew Spaniel is the Founder and Lead Researcher at Mission Critical, where expertise in critical infrastructure cybersecurity research is applied to facilitate collaboration among industry, academia, and government stakeholders. Previously, Drew served as the Director of Research at the Institute for Critical Infrastructure Technology from May 2015 to October 2022 and held a student intern position at the Software Engineering Institute of Carnegie Mellon University focused on CERT CC Threat Analysis. Educational credentials include a Master of Science in Information Security, Policy, and Management from Carnegie Mellon University's Heinz College and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Allegheny College. Additional experience encompasses roles as a Physics Teaching Assistant, Freshman Seminar Teaching Assistant focusing on Espionage, IT Lab Research Fellow researching Digital Piracy under Dr. Michael D, and an internship focusing on Quality Assurance and Development at Optical Filters USA.
