Phil Krey has had a distinguished career in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Phil was the President of the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia starting from 1999. Prior to that, they were a Professor of Church History at the same institution, starting in 1989. Before joining the seminary, they served as a Pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Baltimore, Maryland, from October 1976 to June 1985.
Phil Krey earned their High School Diploma from Wilmington High School in the years 1964 to 1968. Phil then went on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Religion from UMass Boston from 1968 to 1972. Phil continued their education at the University of Chicago, where they completed their PhD in Medieval History from 1985 to 1990.
