Karlene Belyea has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several years. Karlene started their career as a Marketing Program Director at American Educational Services in 1984 and later served as a Financial Analyst Intern at Buick-Oldsmobile-Cadillac Powertrain in 1987. From 1988 to 2003, they worked at the Michigan Nurses Association, where they held the position of Chief Operating Officer. In 2003, Karlene became the Chief Executive Officer of the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association, overseeing its day-to-day operations until 2019. During their time there, they also served as the Executive Director of the Michigan Animal Health Foundation. Since 2012, Karlene has been working independently as a Speaker and Communications Consultant, assisting businesses in improving positive communication and conflict management. Currently, they are the Vice President of Wellness at Mission Veterinary Partners, responsible for developing and delivering comprehensive well-being benefits and programs for their teams.
Karlene Belyea earned their MBA from the University of Michigan from 1986 to 1988, with concentrations in Finance, Marketing, and Human Resources. In 2014, they obtained a certification as a Certified DiSC Profile Trainer from Wiley Workplace Learning Solutions. Prior to their MBA, they completed their undergraduate studies from 1980 to 1984 at Michigan State University, earning a BA in Telecommunications.
