Karen Brown is an experienced radio host and newscaster, currently serving as the host of "Mississippi Edition," a daily statewide live radio news magazine program at Mississippi Public Broadcasting since July 2007. In addition to hosting local segments of "Morning Edition" and anchoring four newscasts daily, Brown previously worked at WGEM TV-AM-FM-CGEM in Quincy, IL, from September 1997 to June 2006, where responsibilities included hosting, newscasting, and copywriting. From 2002 to June 2005, Brown contributed a bi-weekly lifestyle column to the Quincy Herald-Whig under Quincy Broadcasting Company. Educationally, Brown holds a Master of Arts in Theatre from the University of South Dakota and a Bachelor of Arts in Speech/Theatre from Rowan University.

Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) provides relevant instructional and public affairs programming to Mississippians through its statewide television and radio network. MPB enhances the work of educators, students, parents and learners of all ages by providing enlightening programming and educational resources. MPB’s locally-produced programming focuses on the people, resources and attractions that make Mississippi unique. Children’s programs constitute a major portion of the daytime and weekend morning schedules. Since 1970, MPB has won more than 350 national and regional awards, including Emmy, Edward R. Murrow, and Parents’ Choice Awards.
