Kyle Smith

Kyle Smith is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at Mississippi State University, starting in August 2022, where responsibilities include teaching Accounting Data Analytics and Accounting Information Systems II. Prior to this role, Kyle was an Accounting Ph.D. candidate at The University of Alabama from July 2018 to August 2022, completing a dissertation on the differences in giving decision-making between institutional and individual donors. The dissertation committee included Linda M. Parsons, Gary Taylor, Quinn Swanquist, Jodi Henley, and Junsoo Lee. Additionally, Kyle worked as a Project Analyst at Deloitte from June 2016 to July 2018, focusing on financial reporting processes for a Department of Defense Agency and improving reconciliation processes through automation. Kyle holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Accounting from The University of Alabama and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with majors in Economics and Accounting from Bowling Green State University.
