Viraj de Mendis

Viraj De Mendis has a diverse work experience spanning over multiple industries. Viraj began their career as an Engineering Trainee at Sri Lanka Telecom in 2004 and then worked as a Graduate Engineering Trainee at MillenniumIT in 2005. In 2006, they joined IFS as a Software Engineer Trainee.

From 2007 onwards, Viraj worked at MillenniumIT, starting as a Network Engineer and gradually progressing to roles such as Consulting Engineer and Senior Consulting Engineer. In 2011, they also worked as a Visiting Lecturer at ICBT Campus and later at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna.

In 2010, they joined London Stock Exchange as a Network Engineer. Viraj then returned to MillenniumIT in 2011 and served as a Principal Techno Commercial Architect before being promoted to Vice President - Strategic Engagement in 2019, their current role.

Viraj De Mendis is currently a PhD candidate in Information Technology at Management and Science University, a program which they began in 2020 and is expected to complete in 2024. Prior to this, they obtained a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Cardiff Metropolitan University between 2014 and 2016. Their undergraduate education consisted of earning a BSc Engineering degree in Electrical & Information Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Ruhuna, which they completed between 2003 and 2007.

In addition to their formal education, Viraj De Mendis has obtained several certifications including the Advanced Security Architecture SE from Cisco, Application Centric Infrastructure ACI-FE from Cisco, COBIT® 5 Foundation Certificate from ISACA, Data Center Architecture - SE from Cisco, Enterprise Networks Architecture - SE from Cisco, Fortinet Certified Network Security Professional - FCNSP from Fortinet, ITIL® Expert Certificate - IT Service Management from AXELOS Global Best Practice, Juniper R&S | Security Specialist from Juniper Networks, Neuro-linguistic programming - NLP from Mind Designs International (Pvt) Ltd, PMP | Project Management Professional from the Project Management Institute, Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute, and VMware Certified Professional – VCP Datacenter Virtualization from VMware.
