Hege has experience in the finance sector as well, having served as the Group Executive Vice President Private Norway at Gjensidige. In this role, they were responsible for the company's largest business area, providing general insurance and banking products to private consumers.

Additionally, Hege has been involved in the startup ecosystem, serving as an Executive in Residence at Startuplab and providing strategic advisory and investment support to companies such as Mitigrate and FutureXchange. Hege Yli Melhus was also the CEO and Co-Founder of FutureXchange, a fintech startup focused on creating a data-driven marketplace for equity investments.

Hege Yli Melhus Ask began their education at Valler videregående skole from 1990 to 1993. Hege Yli Melhus then attended Université Toulouse 1 Capitole, where they completed a Preparatory year for Norwegian students in Economics from 1993 to 1994. Hege Yli Melhus continued their studies at the same university and obtained a Diplôme d'Etudes Universitaires Générales (DEUG) in Economics from 1994 to 1996. Hege then pursued their higher education at Université Paris Dauphine - PSL, where they earned a Maitrise de Sciences de Gestion (MSG) degree in Finance from 1996 to 1998. Finally, they attended INSEAD as a Research Associate in Strategy for the academic year 1998-1999.
