Simon Freeman

Simon Freeman is the Chief Scientist for Emerging Innovations at MITRE Corporation, where they focus on discovery and innovation to tackle pressing challenges. With a background in oceanography and signal processing, Simon has extensive experience ranging from modeling to hardware design and has participated in numerous successful field campaigns. Previously, Simon served as a Program Director at ARPA-E, an Oceanographer at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, and completed a Ph.D. in Oceanography at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Their interdisciplinary expertise also includes mechanical engineering and program management, built over 18 years in various roles.
