Dr. Jörn Birkel

Dr. Jörn Birkel has a diverse work experience in various roles and positions. Dr. Jörn began their career at Clean-Lasersysteme GmbH in 2000, where they worked in development and quality management until 2004. Dr. Jörn then joined TRUMPF Laser Marking Systems AG and served in multiple roles, including Head of Sales & Application from 2010 to 2014 and Head of Production TruDisk from 2014 to 2016. From 2016 to 2020, they worked at TRUMPF Schweiz AG, where they were the Leiter Industrial Engineering and later became the Head of Production - Laser Technology. Dr. Jörn'smost recent position is at MKS Instruments, where they are currently the Head of Operations, Austria.

Dr. Jörn Birkel received their Dipl.-Ing. degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Construction Technology from RWTH Aachen University in 1997. Dr. Jörn then went on to obtain their Dr.-Ing. degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Laser Technology from Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology, Aachen, in 2001. Additionally, they also studied Mechanical Engineering at INSA Lyon - Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon from 1994 to 1995.
