Tracey Thompson has extensive experience in the non-profit sector, particularly in roles focused on care partnerships, safeguarding, and business development. Tracey started their career in 1992 as an HIV Outreach & Research Worker at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. Tracey then worked as a Detached Youth Worker at Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council from 1993 to 1998, where they managed and coordinated street youth work projects.
In 1998, they joined The Children's Society, where they held various roles over the years. As the Senior Practitioner from 1998 to 2000, they were part of the leadership team responsible for managing a safe house/refuge for young runaways. Tracey then served as a Programme Manager from 2001 to 2003, overseeing a portfolio of services, including a community-led advice center and a young person centred advice service. From 2003 to 2008, they worked as a Regional Development Manager, playing a key role in the development and implementation of programs for young refugees and those at risk of child sexual exploitation.
In 2008, Thompson became an Assistant Director of Business Development at The Children's Society. In this role, they were responsible for scoping and analyzing development opportunities, leading large-scale tenders for new work, and overseeing operational implementation of new service contracts. This resulted in securing over £14M of new contracts with a 42% win rate.
In 2015, Thompson joined the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association as the Head of Regional Care Partnerships. In this position, they led the development and local delivery of the MND Association's strategic priorities for the North of England. Tracey also led a multidisciplinary team of regional staff and was responsible for the children and whole families program, as well as the review and improvement of safeguarding policy, procedures, and processes at an organizational level.
Most recently, in 2022, Thompson served as a Volunteer Safeguarding Director at Suicide&Co. Overall, Tracey Thompson's work experience demonstrates their expertise in leadership, project management, partnership development, and safeguarding within the non-profit sector.
Tracey Thompson earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA Hons) degree in Psychology from the University of Wolverhampton between 1989 and 1992. Following that, they pursued a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Youth and Community from The Manchester Metropolitan University from 1993 to 1995.
