Yuyao Shen

Yuyao Shen has a diverse range of work experience. Yuyao started as an Orientation Leader at Michigan State University, guiding international students through a week of orientation. Yuyao also worked as a Teaching Assistant in Social Psychology, conducting group study sessions and holding office hours for over 200 students. Yuyao served as a Research Assistant in the Department of Psychology, analyzing a study on factors influencing psychological functioning and health. Yuyao coded videos, categorized participant behavior, and performed data entry and cleaning using Excel.

At Michigan State University, Yuyao also served as a Student Advisory Board Member, consulting with program directors and stakeholder teams to support international students in their academic and professional growth. Yuyao contributed to weekly seminars and conferences, participated as a session leader, and coordinated the MSU China pre-departure program.

Yuyao was the Co-Chair of the Honors College International Student Advisory Board. Yuyao initiated and administered the Honors College Peer Mentorship Program, planned events, and recorded a welcome video for international Honors College students.

Yuyao had an internship with the United Nations as an Economic Affairs Intern. Yuyao researched and analyzed data on global and regional economic trends, created presentations for international conferences, and drafted official documents such as the 2018 Regional Commissions Annual Report.

Yuyao also served as a Data Scientist Volunteer for The Global Association for Research Methods and Data Science, utilizing their data science skills for various projects.

Currently, Yuyao is working as a Data Analyst at MobilityWare, and they previously interned as a Data Analyst at the same company.

Yuyao Shen completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Economics from Michigan State University from 2014 to 2018. Yuyao then pursued a Master's degree in Business Analytics at the University of Southern California from 2019 to 2021. In addition to their academic qualifications, they obtained various certifications including Tableau Desktop Specialist from Tableau Software in January 2020, Analyzing Business Data in SQL and Intermediate SQL from DataCamp in October 2019. Yuyao also has pursued the CFA Level I certification from the CFA Institute, although the specific month and year of obtaining this certification are unknown.
