Larry Emond

Senior Partner at Modern Executive Solutions

Larry Emond is a Senior Partner, leading the firm’s Global HR Practice. He focuses on the hiring and development of CHROs as well as direct reports to CHROs, and on getting more CHROs on the boards of public companies.

Previously Larry was Managing Director, Global Leadership Advisory, at Gallup. Over the last several years at Gallup he built CHRO Roundtable, the largest organization in the world limited exclusively to big company CHROs, with nearly 1,000 members globally. He is a frequent speaker and workshop leader on a variety of topics including the Future of Work, Future of HR, Future of Learning, DEI, HR Technology and Automation, Performance Management, and Leadership. Larry also provides executive coaching and advising to senior leaders.

Prior to his time leading the CHRO Roundtable, he served as Gallup's Managing Partner of a region that included the Western United States, Asia, and the Middle East. He also served for more than a decade as Gallup’s Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Publisher. As CMO, his responsibilities included overseeing the development of the company’s broad range of analytics, advisory and learning services. As Executive Publisher, he directed Gallup’s publishing efforts, including books and the Gallup Business Journal. Under his leadership, Gallup authored many groundbreaking books, including First, Break All the Rules; Now, Discover Your Strengths; StrengthsFinder 2.0; Strengths Based Leadership; and The Coming Jobs War. During his time as Executive Publisher, Gallup published 5 of the 25 bestselling management books of all time.

Larry began his career at Gallup in 1992, when he started Gallup’s operations in Tokyo. Before joining Gallup, he worked for several years at the Japan Management Association Research Institute, a regional economic and management think tank.

He received his bachelor’s degree in international commerce, Asian Studies and Japanese language from San Diego State University.
