Modern Times Beer
Ryann McCollum is an experienced educator and merchandise specialist with a background in the STEAM field and customer service. Currently serving as a STEAM Teacher and Substitute Teacher at Santa Barbara Unified School District since January 2021, Ryann previously held the position of Merchandise Specialist at Modern Times Beer. Additional experience includes serving as a UCEAP Global Intern at UC Santa Barbara, recruiting prospective students and hosting workshops. Past roles also encompass positions at Starbucks, where Ryann was part of the initial staff as a Barista, serving at Hoffmann Brat Haus as a Server, and working in various capacities at the YMCA of Greater Whittier. Ryann holds a Master of Education in Teacher Education and Professional Development from UC Santa Barbara, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in International/Global Studies from the same institution.

Modern Times Beer
Modern Times is a 30bbl production brewery in the Point Loma neighborhood of San Diego. Modern Times is named after a beautifully crazy utopian community founded in 1850, and (almost) all of our beers are named after real utopian experiments or mythological utopias. Today, we're distributed throughout Southern California, with a tasting room at the brewery as well as in San Diego’s North Park community. We brewed our first batch on May 18th, 2013; our beer went on tap for the first time on June 24th 2013; we held the soft opening for the Lomaland Fermentorium tasting room on August 9th, 2013; and our Grand Opening was September 7th, 2013.
