Shiyu Zhang

Scientist at Moderna Therapeutics

Shiyu Zhang is a scientist currently working at Moderna since July 2024. Prior to this role, Shiyu served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Ragon Institute of Mass General, MIT, and Harvard from February 2024 to July 2024, and as a Postdoctoral Associate at Scripps Research from July 2021 to February 2024, focusing on structural and biophysical approaches to cryo-EM polyclonal epitope mapping for HIV vaccine development in the lab of Andrew Ward. Shiyu completed a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at Drexel University from 2014 to 2020, where contributions included biological evaluation of bifunctional chimeras targeting HIV-1 and the development of protein-inhibitor binding assays. Additionally, Shiyu served as a Teaching Assistant in multiple Biomedical Engineering courses at Drexel University from 2015 to 2017 and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University from 2010 to 2014.
