Nicholas J. Amato

Nicholas J. Amato is a highly experienced professional in the field of biological science and research automation, currently serving as Senior Director of Research Automation at Moderna since January 2016. Amato has held various significant positions at Moderna, including Director of Research Automation and Director of Biological Science at the Platform Automation Center of Excellence. Prior to joining Moderna, Amato was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, Riverside, and an International Guest Lecturer at Huazhong Agricultural University. Additional roles include Research Assistant at the University of Toledo Instrumentation Center and Graduate Student, where Amato completed a Ph.D. in Chemistry. Musical interests include participating as a cellist with the Kendall Square Orchestra from January 2019 to August 2023. Amato holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from The College of Wooster and has a strong foundation in both academic and research environments.
