Welmoed Out is an experienced archaeobotanist currently working at Moesgård Museum since November 2015, where responsibilities include analyzing charcoal and phytoliths, conducting scientific research, managing projects in Archaeobotany and Environmental Archaeology, and teaching Archaeobotany to undergraduate students at Aarhus University. Prior to this role, Welmoed held positions at Kiel University as a board member and post-doctoral fellow in Archaeobotany, and served as a Marie Curie IEF Research Fellow at the Spanish National Research Council. An earlier career included positions at ARC BV and a research fellowship at the University of Sheffield. Welmoed earned a PhD in Archaeology from Leiden University focusing on human impact and plant subsistence during the Late Mesolithic to Middle Neolithic periods. Academic qualifications also include an MSc in Biology from Utrecht University and studies in environmental education and health education.
