Lorenz Mayr

Lorenz Mayr has held a variety of positions in the biotechnology and medical engineering fields since 2018. In 2018, they were appointed as a Member of the Scientific Advisory Board at the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology and Automation IPA. In 2019, they were appointed as Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board at the Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology IGB and as a Non-Executive Director at PhoreMost Ltd. In 2020, they were appointed as a Non-Executive Director at Mogrify and as Chief Executive Officer of Mayr BioMedTech Consulting. In 2021, they were appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Vector BioPharma and Senior Advisor at EQT Group. In 2022, they were appointed as a Board Member of the Science Translation Fund at The Francis Crick Institute. Lorenz is currently also an Entrepreneur In Residence (EiR) at SYNCONA Investment Management Limited.

Lorenz Mayr obtained a Vordiplom from the University of Tübingen in 1985-1986, followed by a Diploma from the University of Bayreuth in 1986-1990, where they studied Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Molecular Biology. Lorenz then attended the University of Colorado Boulder as an exchange student from 1988-1989, studying Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Molecular and Cell Biology. Afterward, they returned to the University of Bayreuth to pursue a Ph.D. in Biochemistry & Biophysics, which they completed in 1991-1993. Lorenz then went on to pursue a PostDoc at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1993-1995.
