He holds a degree in Economics from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a master's degree in Economics from the University of Chicago. He is currently Director of the Institute of Entrepreneurship at the Universidad del Desarrollo and was Executive Vice President of the Corporation for the Promotion of Production (Corfo). He is a founding partner of the economic and financial analysis company Econsult. He is a director of the companies Telefónica Chile, Inversiones Aguas Metropolitanas and Enel Generación.
