Alexander Warren

Alexander Warren has a diverse work experience in the field of materials science and metallurgy. Alexander currently serves as the Lead Material Scientist at Moltex Energy since March 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Metallurgist at Moltex Energy from April 2021 to February 2022.

Before joining Moltex Energy, Alexander worked at the University of Bristol for a significant period. Alexander held the role of EDF Energy High Temperature Materials Degredation Research Fellow from November 2016 to April 2021. In this position, they conducted materials science research to support the safety case for the lifetime extension of the UK's AGR Nuclear Reactor fleet. Alexander worked on various metallurgical themes related to high temperature degradation mechanisms and collaborated with academic and industrial stakeholders. Additionally, they managed the microscopy labs at the Interface Analysis Centre.

Prior to their role as a research fellow, Alexander worked as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant at the University of Bristol from April 2015 to November 2016. This position involved studying the gaseous corrosion of uranium, with a focus on understanding the influence of microstructure on these processes. Alexander gained experience in operating gas exposure rigs and utilized various materials analysis techniques.

Early in their career, Alexander gained internship experience at Magnox Ltd. Alexander served as a member of the Magnox North Generic R&D team in 2008 and 2007, contributing to ongoing research projects.

Alexander Warren completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Chemistry at the University of Bristol from 2006 to 2009. Alexander then pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Analytical Chemistry at the same university, which they completed from 2009 to 2011. Following their master's degree, Alexander continued their education at the University of Bristol and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Materials Science from 2011 to 2015.
