Dean Mallis has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Dean'smost recent position was as the VP of Security at Momnt, starting in May 2023. Prior to that, they served as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Assistant General Manager of Information Security at MARTA, the 8th largest transit agency in the US, from March 2017 to May 2023. At MARTA, they were responsible for building the Information Security program around NIST's Risk Management Framework.
Before their role at MARTA, Dean worked at Aaron's, Inc as the Manager of Incident Response, eDiscovery, and Forensics from January 2013 to February 2017. Dean also has experience as a Managing Partner at TotalCSO, a security consulting firm, from February 2010 to August 2016. At TotalCSO, they provided a range of services including gap assessment, compliance readiness, penetration testing, computer forensics, private investigation, and executive protection consulting.
Dean started their career as a Certified Computer Examiner at the Villa Rica Police Department, where they provided pro bono computer forensics assistance from January 2008 to 2013. Dean also held positions at WorldPay as a Senior Information Security Analyst from October 2011 to December 2012, and at The Home Depot as a Lead Security Engineer from October 2009 to October 2011, and as a Senior Security Engineer in Information Assurance from February 2007 to October 2009.
In addition, Dean served as the Executive Director of the R.E.C.O.N. Missing-Abducted Child Response Agency, a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing endangered children, from December 2009 to May 2011. Prior to that, they held roles at Deutsche Bank, including East Coast Regional Support Manager - Vice President from August 2004 to November 2006, and Southeast Support Manager - Vice President from January 2001 to August 2004.
Dean Mallis has a diverse education history that includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Cybercrime and Fraud Investigations from Utica University. Dean also attended Columbia University, where they pursued studies in Computer Science. Prior to that, they earned an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Biology from Nassau Community College.
In addition to their academic achievements, Dean Mallis has obtained several professional certifications. These certifications include Executive Protection Specialist from the International Academy of Executive Protection Agents, GIAC Web Application Penetration Tester (GWAPT) from the SANS Institute, CISSP from ISC2, Certified Computer Examiner from The International Society of Forensic Computer Examiners, ITIL from ITIL Managers, and Private Investigator from the Georgia Secretary of State.
