Élyse Fischer

Postdoctoral Scientist at Monod Bio

Élyse Fischer has a diverse work experience in the field of molecular biology and biochemistry. Élyse'smost recent role is as a Postdoctoral Scientist at Monod Bio, starting in November 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) from October 2021 to September 2022. At LMB, they also completed their Ph.D. as a Doctoral Student, supported by a Gates Cambridge scholarship, from October 2017 to September 2021.

In 2020, Élyse worked as a COVID-19 Tester at UK Biocentre, where they aided in setting up a government lighthouse lab for COVID-19 testing using RT-PCR. From August 2016 to July 2017, they held a role as a Post-Baccalaureate Research Fellow at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), which resulted in a first author publication in Protein Science.

Prior to their postgraduate studies, Élyse gained research experience as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of St Andrews in two separate roles. From November 2015 to April 2016, they investigated pulsed electron-electron double resonance multi-spin effects in E. coli mechanosensitive channels of large-conductance. In July and August 2015, they were awarded a Biochemical Society Student Vocation Scholarship to conduct research on the enzyme activity of Casposon Cas1 in the group of Prof. Malcolm White.

Additionally, Élyse has worked as a Research Assistant at Beryllium Discovery in 2014, gaining crystallography experience in an industrial setting. Élyse'swork involved the crystallization and structure determination of protein targets for the Seattle Structural Genomics Centre for Infectious Diseases (SSGCID), resulting in the deposition of PDB structures.

Élyse Fischer completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Structural Biology & Biochemistry at the University of Cambridge from 2017 to 2021. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree with honors in Molecular Biology from the University of St Andrews, where they studied from 2012 to 2016. Before their undergraduate studies, Élyse attended Bainbridge High School until 2012, though specific degree and field of study information was not provided.
