Darrick Ginkel

MD & Head, Secondaries, Opportunistic Credit at Monroe Capital

Darrick Ginkel is the head of Monroe Capital’s secondaries and opportunistic credit division. Darrick has over 20 years of experience in the distressed and high yield credit space. Prior to joining Monroe, Darrick was a portfolio manager at Ellington Management Group, where they focused on distressed and high yield credit. Prior to Ellington, Darrick was a portfolio manager at Whitebox Advisors LLC, where they focused on distressed credit.

Darrick began their career in the financial industry as a consultant with the Stonehill Group, LLP. Darrick then worked as a financial analyst for Star Tribune/ McClatchy and Northwest Airlines. In 2005, they joined CarVal Investors as an associate, focusing on distressed debt. In 2008, they co-founded Aerwulf Asset Management, where they served as partner and portfolio manager before joining Monroe Capital in 2019.

Darrick Ginkel has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota, Curtis L. Carlson School of Management, concentrating in finance and accounting. Darrick also has certification from the CFA.
