Emily Wang

Board of Member at Monroe-Woodbury Central School District

Emily Wang, a member of the Monroe-Woodbury High School Class of 2021, is serving as the student representative on the Board of Education for the 2020-21 school year. Emily is currently Vice President of the Tri-M Music Honor Society and Treasurer of the LEAD club in MWHS. Emily has won many prestigious international and national piano awards, and she has also performed a solo piano recital in Steinway Hall, NYC. In addition to the piano, Emily also plays the cello in the MWHS Chamber Orchestra. She is an active member of the OCCA (Orange County Chinese Association), and organized an APAHM panel discussion and a virtual Mother’s Day concert during COVID-19 with their planning team. Emily also brings her love of music to the Woodbury Senior Center with the help of the chamber ensemble group she formed called “Perfect Harmony”.

Each year, the Board of Education selects a student to serve as an ex officio, non-voting member, in accordance with the provisions of Section 1702 of the Education Law, as approved by public vote in May 2016. The student member of the Board of Education serves as the voice of the students by providing brief reports sharing issues of importance to the student body.
