Chris S. currently serves as the State Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for the State of Montana since August 2023, following a role as Cybersecurity Operations Bureau Chief within the State of Montana Department of Administration from August 2021 to August 2023. Chris has extensive experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on mitigating phishing threats and a strong background in cybersecurity management, classified by the NICE Framework. Prior to these roles, Chris worked as a Business Systems and Operations Supervisor at the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services, and held various positions from 2013 to 2020 in information security. Chris also served in the US Navy as Master at Arms 2nd Class (E-5), specializing in law enforcement and antiterrorism operations. Educational qualifications include an MBA in IT Management from Western Governors University, a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice/Police Science from American Military University, and a Master of Arts in Sociology from Washington State University. Active Secret clearance is held.
