Howard Buck

Howard Buck has extensive work experience in the field of backend engineering and payments transfers. Howard started their career as a Software Engineer at STS Payments in September 2008, where they were responsible for payments software design, Java development, and testing on various platforms. Howard also handled product maintenance and support, as well as technical and pre-sales communications with partners and clients. In September 2011, Howard was promoted to Senior Software Engineer, taking on additional responsibilities such as training and mentoring team members, product and solution design, and providing technical pre-sales expertise. In October 2013, they became a Development Leader at STS Payments and joined the Product Leadership Team. In this role, they served as a Scrum Product Owner, steering the future direction of STS and its products. Howard led and grew the agile development team and supported technical sales. Howard spearheaded the development of STS' new product, PayOp, while also engaging in business and marketing activities. Howard joined Monzo Bank in September 2018 as a Backend Engineer. Howard eventually became a Tech Lead for Payments Transfers, leading the development and implementation of payment transfer systems. In June 2022, Howard was promoted to the position of Senior Backend Engineer and Tech Lead, further consolidating their role in overseeing crucial payment transfer operations at the company.

Howard Buck attended the University of Southampton from 2004 to 2007, where they obtained a BSc Hons degree in Mathematics with Computer Science. In 2014, they also obtained the Certified Scrum Product Owner certification from the Scrum Alliance. Additionally, they have the Thoughtonomy Certified Practitioner certification, although the month and year of obtaining this certification are not provided.
