Kate Astbury

Kate Astbury has significant experience in the field of employment law. Kate currently holds the position of Director of Legal - Employment, Incentives & Pensions at Monzo Bank, starting in October 2021. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Employment Counsel at Travelex from January 2018 to October 2021, where they advised on a wide range of employment law matters for both UK and international issues. From September 2015 to October 2017, they served as an Associate at Mishcon de Reya, where they provided advice to employers and senior employees on various employment law issues. Kate also worked at Dechert LLP from October 2009 to September 2015, first as a Trainee Solicitor and later as an Associate in their Employment Law practice. During their time at Dechert LLP, they gained experience in both contentious and non-contentious employment law, handling complex commercial litigation, staff restructuring, and advising on HR and remuneration matters.

Kate Astbury began their education in 2004 at the University of Nottingham, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Law with European Law. Kate completed their undergraduate studies in 2008.

During their undergraduate program, Kate also spent a year abroad at the University of Valencia in 2006-2007, where they focused on Spanish Law as part of the Erasmus program.

After completing their Bachelor's degree, Kate attended BPP Law School in 2008-2009, where they obtained a Legal Practice Course degree in Law.

In terms of additional certifications, Kate achieved the WSET Level 2 in Wine & Spirits (Distinction) in January 2016, and the WSET Level 3 Award in Wine (Distinction) in January 2017, both from the institution WSET - Wine & Spirit Education Trust.
