Samir Patel

Samirkumar Patel is an experienced leader in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors with a focus on innovative therapeutic solutions. Currently serving as the President and CEO of Moonlight Therapeutics since May 2017, Patel is dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals with peanut allergies through patient-friendly treatments. Previously, as Co-founder and Director of Research at Clearside Biomedical, Patel contributed to the development of targeted therapies for ocular diseases, leveraging a proprietary treatment approach. Academic experience includes various roles at Georgia Institute of Technology, culminating in a PhD in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, where research emphasized minimally invasive ocular drug delivery methods. Early career experience at ALZA Corporation involved R&D in formulation development for controlled release systems. Patel’s educational background includes a B.S. in Chemical and Material Science Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
