Matt Wassum

Matt Wassum currently serves as a Deputy Sheriff at Morgan County Sheriff's Office since March 2017. Prior experience includes working as a Master Police Officer at the University of Alabama in Huntsville Police Department from October 2011 to March 2017, where responsibilities encompassed campus security, emergency response, and instructor roles for TASER and Active Shooter Response training. Prior to that, Matt held a Police Officer position at John C. Calhoun State Community College, conducting campus rounds and incident reporting. Matt's law enforcement career began at the Limestone County AL Sheriff's Office as a Deputy Sheriff, where duties involved law enforcement and community event security. Additionally, Matt has experience in management and operations from a previous role as Manager/Cook at Mac's Sports Bar and Steakhouse. Matt's education includes training from the Alabama Police Academy and NASA Federal Law Enforcement Academy, complemented by studies at Shelton State Community College.
