Dr. Hongtao Yu is the Provost & SVP for Academic Affairs at Morgan State University. Hongtao served as Professor and Chair at Jackson State University from August 1996 to August 2016. Dr. Yu's research interests include energy storage materials and devices, nanomaterials and nanotechnology, electronic materials and devices, and optoelectronic materials and devices.

Hongtao Yu received a Master of Science in Organic Chemistry from the Institute of Chemistry at the Chinese Academy of Sciences CAS. Hongtao then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Science and Technology of China. Finally, they completed their Doctor of Science in Chemistry at the Technical University of Munich.
