Duncan Elliott

Duncan Elliott has extensive work experience in the technology and information security fields. Duncan started their career as a Field Technician at Datacare Pty Ltd in 2002 and later served as a Network Administrator at Swire Cold Storage in 2004. In 2005, they joined IBM as a Senior Systems Engineer. Duncan then transitioned to the Australian Army in 2006, where they worked as a Command Support Systems Operator until 2006.

Returning to IBM, Duncan took on roles as a Technical Operations Manager from 2006 to 2010 and as a Security Operations Manager from 2010 to 2012. Duncan then joined Adapt (a Datapipe company) as a Manager of System Operations from 2012 to 2014.

Duncan's career progressed further when they joined Direct Line Group as a Security Operations Manager in 2014. Duncan was later promoted to Head of Security Engineering & Operations, leading a team responsible for the delivery and analysis of security controls and infrastructure services. In 2018, they moved to Arq Group as the Head of Information Security, overseeing security operations, compliance, and assurance capabilities.

Currently, Duncan Elliott serves as the Chief Information Security Officer at Morgans Financial Limited since December 2020. Duncan is also the Chief Technology Officer since February 2023, contributing their expertise in technology and information security management.

Duncan Elliott's education history begins in 2002 when they attended QUT (Queensland University of Technology) and pursued a Bachelor of Technology - BTech degree. However, it is unclear when their studies at QUT concluded. In 2001, they attended TAFE Queensland and obtained a Diploma of IT in Network Engineering, which they completed in 2003.

In 2004, Duncan Elliott attended The University of Queensland for the Cisco Networking Academy Program (CNAP) and completed it within the same year. Their formal education then resumed in 2013 when they enrolled at Birkbeck, University of London and pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Information Systems and Management. Duncan completed their studies at Birkbeck in 2015.

In addition to their formal education, Duncan Elliott has obtained several certifications. In 2005, they obtained the CCNA certification from Cisco. Subsequently, they obtained the ITIL v3 Service Management - Foundation certification from ITIL in 2010. In 2011, they received the Certification in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) from ISACA and also completed the PRINCE2® Foundation and Practitioner Certification Training from APMG International. In 2012, they obtained the Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certification from ISACA, and in 2013, they obtained the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)².
