Jim Dougherty has had a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over decades. Jim began their career in 1989 at Attica Engineering Inc as a Designer, where they worked until 1991. Jim then moved on to T.T.I. Engineering, contracted to Sanyo Machine, as a Design Engineer from August 1991 to February 1992. Jim continued with Utica Machine as a Mechanical Engineer for a short period from February 1992 to March 1992. Jim then joined Taurus Systems, contracted to Sanyo Machine Corp., as a Mechanical Engineer from April 1992 to March 1993. After this, they worked at Basec Inc., contracted to Comau North America, as a Mechanical Engineer from March 1993 to August 1994. Jim then joined Comau North America as a Mechanical Operations Project Engineer, where they played a significant role in coordinating the development and completion of engineering projects from August 1994 to September 1999. Jim then moved on to Durr Systems, Inc. (APT) and held the positions of Engineering Manager from September 1999 to September 2009, and later, as the Senior Manager of Engineering, Purchasing & Mfg. from September 2009 to September 2015. Currently, Jim works at Morrell Group as a Sales Engineer from September 2015 to June 2023, and they also hold the position of Mechanical Product Manager from July 2021.
Jim Dougherty attended Baker College Business and Corporate Services from 1987 to 2009, where they pursued a degree in Engineering. Before attending college, they completed their high school education at Imlay City High School from 1983 to 1987. In addition to their formal education, Jim also obtained several certifications throughout their career. Jim received a Certified Ford Automotive Operations degree in FMEA from the Fairlane Training and Development Center. Jim also obtained a Certificate in CATIA 3D Design (4V) from INCAT Solutions Inc. Jim further enhanced their skills by completing a 2 Year Certificate in Metal Machining Processes and a 2 Year Certificate in Welding Processes from Lapeer County Vocational. Additionally, they obtained a Certificate in Industrial and residential electrical design and installation from Lapeer County Vocational. Jim also received certificates from Mitutoyo Corp, one in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and another in Modern Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
