William Lapthorn

William Lapthorn has a diverse work experience in the legal field. William started their career as a Graduate Programme participant at Shell in 2006. William then worked as a Secondee Legal Counsel for Japan Petroleum Exploration Co., Ltd in 2008 and later for INPEX Corporation from 2010 to 2013. In 2007, Lapthorn joined Herbert Smith Freehills as a Senior Associate, where they worked until 2020. During their time at Herbert Smith Freehills, they also served as a Legal Counsel on secondment at Mitsui & Co., Ltd. from 2018 to 2020. Currently, Lapthorn is the Director of Legal at H.R.L. Morrison & Co since 2020.

William Lapthorn completed their education with a focus on law and finance. In 2001, they enrolled at the University of Canterbury and pursued a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree alongside a Bachelor of Commerce (BCOM) degree, specializing in finance. William'sundergraduate studies lasted until 2005. In 2006, they attended The College of Law in New Zealand, where they completed the Professional Legal Studies Course.
