Paul Tien

Founder & CEO at Morro Data

Paul Tien has over 35 years of experience in the tech industry. Paul began their career in 1982 as a Design Engineer at AMD. Paul then moved to ZyMOS in 1984 as a Design Manager. In 1987, they joined Sun Microsystems as a Member of Technical Staff. In 1991, they founded MediaChips, a company that designed PC audio chipsets for gaming. This company was acquired by OPTi in 1993, where they served as General Manager of Multimedia. In 1995, they founded Platform Technologies, Inc. to design PCI-based Audio chipset for PC gaming and multimedia applications. This company was acquired by ESS Technology in 1997, where they served as VP Engineering. In 2001, they founded Infrant Technologies, Inc., which designed the world's first Network Storage Processor. This company was acquired by NETGEAR in 2007, where they served as General Manager of Network Storage and grew ReadyNAS to be #1 SMB NAS worldwide. In 2013, they founded Morro Data, where they currently serve as Founder and CEO.

Paul Tien attended the University of California, Berkeley.
