Lieke Schaeken

Lieke Schaeken has a diverse work experience in the field of science and research. Lieke is currently working as a Junior Scientist at Mosa Meat since March 2021. Prior to this, they worked at Webhelp as a Bron-en contactonderzoek medewerker GGD from December 2020 to March 2021.

Lieke has also gained valuable experience during their time at Radboudumc. Lieke served as a Student-assistant from September 2020 to December 2020. Additionally, they completed an internship in Dermatology from January 2020 to August 2020. During this internship, they worked on developing an organotypic fungal skin model, utilizing techniques such as keratinocyte cell culture, fungal cell culture, gene expression analysis, and histological techniques. Their supervisor for this internship was Dr. Hanna Niehues.

Previous to their work in Dermatology, Lieke interned in Human Genetics at Radboudumc from March 2019 to August 2019. During this internship, they investigated the role of NTNG2 in neurite outgrowth and its association with autosomal recessive intellectual disability. Lieke used various techniques such as cell culture, site-directed mutagenesis, transfection, and qPCR. Their supervisor for this internship was Prof. Hans van Bokhoven.

In addition, Lieke has completed an internship in Biochemistry at Universiteit Maastricht from April 2018 to July 2018.

Lieke Schaeken completed their education in a chronological manner. Lieke obtained their VWO Diploma, specializing in Natuur & Gezondheid en Natuur & Techniek, from Het College Weert between 2009 and 2015. Lieke then pursued a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences with a focus on Molecular Life Sciences at Maastricht University from 2015 to 2018. Following this, they enrolled at Radboud University and earned a Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences from 2018 to 2020. In February 2019, Lieke Schaeken also obtained a certification in Laboratory Animal Sciences (Article 9) from the FEDERATION OF EUROPEAN LABORATORY ANIMAL SCIENCE ASSOCIATIONS.
