Maddie Oatman

Maddie Oatman is a seasoned journalist with extensive experience in editorial roles, currently serving as a Senior Editor at Mother Jones since June 2010. In this position, Maddie edits and writes for both the print magazine and website while supporting a team of writers. Previous roles include Senior Research Editor at Mother Jones, where management of the research department and the fellowship program involved training over 60 aspiring journalists and ensuring content accuracy. Additional experience includes serving as Executive Producer and Host for the Bite podcast and as a Staff Board Representative for the Foundation for National Progress. Early career positions include Literacy Instructor at Mission Learning Center and Special Projects role at University Games, complemented by an internship at 826 Valencia. Maddie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a concentration in Creative Writing from Middlebury College.
