Social Media Audience Strategist at Motherly

Erin Chen's work experience begins in 2014 as an Editor for the El Valedor Yearbook, where they conducted interviews, wrote copy, and designed pages using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop. From 2018 to 2019, they served as an Editorial Intern for Study Breaks Magazine, where they edited and provided feedback on articles, optimized search results using SEO, and refined their writing and analytical skills. In 2019, they worked as a Press Manager Intern for Elicit Magazine, editing press releases and managing social media platforms. Erin then joined Motherly in 2019 as a Social Media Intern, where they identified and repackaged content, compiled analytics reports, and designed social media posts. In 2020, they interned at Causewave Community Partners as a Nonprofit Strategy & Marketing Intern, working on outreach activities and developing a social media plan. Erin also interned at the American Red Cross, where they developed newsletters and conducted interviews for the #MyRedCrossLife series. In 2020, Erin interned at Operation Smile, assisting with competitive analysis, developing blog posts, and organizing the social media calendar. In 2021, they worked at Insider, Inc. as a Social Media Fellow, managing posting schedules, distributing content, and sending push alerts. Currently, Erin holds the position of Social Media Audience Strategist at Motherly.

Erin Chen completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Communication and Media Studies at the University of Rochester from 2017 to 2020. During the same period, they also obtained a Bachelor of Music (BM) degree in Piano Performance (Applied Music) from the Eastman School of Music. Currently, Erin is pursuing a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Communication and Media Studies at The Johns Hopkins University, which they started in 2021 and is expected to finish in 2023.
