Nitin Kapania

Nitin Kapania is a Principal Engineer and Team Lead at Motional since September 2024, following a role as Senior Engineering Manager at Plus, where Nitin led the planning and prediction software groups focused on machine learning algorithms for behavioral autonomy from May 2023 to September 2024. Prior experience includes positions as Software Engineering Manager and Senior Software Engineer at Cruise from August 2019 to May 2023, and a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, Berkeley, in collaboration with Stanford, centered on research and education in automated vehicle technologies from May 2018 to August 2019. Nitin also served as a technology-focused consultant at Bain & Company, addressing corporate strategy and R&D organization from July 2016 to May 2018, and contributed to algorithms for automated vehicles during a graduate research role at Stanford University from September 2011 to March 2016. Nitin holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering.
